This is the Oxford Combined Media Arts Club (COMMA, for short).
We organize arts-related events to excite students into criticizing, appreciating and understanding art, music, writing, performance, and the media in a positive and constructive manner.
Comma was founded in 2008 by a number of students from across Oxford University who felt that the vibrant arts scene at Oxford was too disparate, with events often going under-publicized. We value and encourage an open, mixed-genre approach to art and academia, and in doing so, have built up good relationships with the various publications and societies of both Oxford and Cambridge. Anyone who expresses a positive interest in Comma is considered a member: there are no subscription fees, and no begging emails.
Comma is a not-for-profit society, and is supported by the events we run. While these do well to support the society, we could always do more, and are open to further suggestions for raising funds. In the future, we hope to be able to sponsor more theatrical productions (such as the five-star new play The Aphorist, and the ‘brilliantly written’ Udder), and individual students to allow them to realize their creative potential.
